Through an endless list of sponsorships, special event marketing and promotion, he has supported many causes that improve education, encourage diversity, create health awareness, aid the arts and enhance the Hispanic culture.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Garza grew up in the predominantly Hispanic southside of the city, where he attended Kelly Elementary and Lowell Junior High.  He moved for a short period to Odessa, Texas in 1972.  He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  His studies focused on business and marketing.

A long-time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, he is actively involved in the church’s program to feed under-privileged families and the homeless. His involvement with the Rey Feo Scholarship program and his passion to support education in San Antonio began early in his life when his uncle, Nick Garza, started his fundraising in 1988 to become Rey Feo XLI.  And the rest is history.  Garza committed his support for Henry Munoz in 1997 during his campaign to become Rey Feo L.  Then in 2004, he was the Minister of Transportation for Tom Sineni, Rey Feo LVI and in 2005 he was the Minister of Transportation for Robert D. Tips, Rey Feo LVII.  In 2007, he is the Night Minister for Brian Weiner, Rey Feo LIX.

He enjoys spending time with outdoor activities, four-wheeling with his daughters, grilling great meals, spending quality time with family and quiet moments as an avid reader.
Garza is married to Blanca Aldaco, a native from Guadalajara, who is a well-known businesswoman in San Antonio and former Commissioner for the San Antonio Fiesta Commission (2000-2003). They have two daughters Adriana and Marisol.
